What is Xeriscape?
Xeriscape is not just rocks and gravel with a few sparsly placed plants. To the contrary, Xeriscape is an environmentally friendly seven part strategy for garden design and maintenance that save water while creating a lush and colorful landscape. Aspen Leaf creates Xeriscape landscapes that are the envy of the neighborhood by focusing on these design strategies:
1. Plan & Design: with water conservation and natural beauty as the primary considerations
2. Smart Turf Use: small areas of turf in shaded areas to prevent evaporation
3. Low Water Plants: select plants that can tolerate low-water conditions, and group plants together that have similar watering needs
4. Natural Soil Additives: such as compost and manure to feed plants and keep soil moist
5. Mulches: To reduce evaporation and keep soil cool and moist
6. Irrigate Efficiently: with properly designed systems, by applying the right amount of water at the right time
7. Continual Maintenance: mowing, weeding and maintaining irrigation equipment to reduce water consumption
